Emerald Queen Hotel & Casino

My husband and I booked this place because it was 10 min from our show at Tacoma Comedy Club. We don't know much about the area and I found a good deal through Agoda for this hotel. It had a pool and hot tub which wad on my checklist. Upon arrival, we stood in line to walk through a metal detector and have our ID's scanned. Security asked if we were staying there since we had our luggage in tow and made us feel like we were putting them out coming through this door and not the other entrance. They told us it wasn't safe to leave our car in the front lot anf we should move it to the parking garage before dark. The hotel staff were all kind and efficient. The room was large and clean, clean and comfy aside from the mini fridge smelling awful. When we called down to see how to get to the hot tub and pool, we were told it was out of commission. What a bummer! I would have booked somewhere else had I known beforehand. The casino games sucked overall. They lacked variety and gave tons of bonuses in the $2-$12 range. Very smokey with a shady crowd of gamblers. Every time you leave and come back, you have to wait in line to have your ID scanned and walk through a metal detector. It's not really a great vibe for a hotel stay! The kicker is when we were checking out of our room, my husband and I both had gambling tickets to cash out. You HAVE to roll your luggage through the casino floor to get out of the place because there's not a separate entrance for hotel guests. My husband wheeled his bag through to find a kiosk to cash his ticket. I put my $22 ticket into a machine and hit spin once and went into a bonus. I was approached by a security guard immediately and he told me I'm not allowed to have my travel bags on the floor. I apologized and asked if I was allowed to finish my bonus and he said yes. Bonus ends (another $12 win), I wheel my bag over to fill up my water and then turn to find a kiosk to cash out my ticket so we can leave. I find a kiosk and I'm trying to put my ticket in to cash out as I'm approached by another security guard. He tells me I'm not allowed to have my luggage on the casino floor. I tell him I've already been in trouble and I'm cashing out. The first security guard approaches me and starts asking me why I didn't cash my ticket out at the kiosk that was near where I filled my water bottle up at. (I wanted to say Ummm... I've literally been to this casino once and don't know the layout of the God forsaken maze??!) I told him I didn't know there was one there and he proceeds to tell me that this kiosk is broken and I need to "go to the cage" to cash out. He escorted me there and watched me the whole time I interacted with the sweet woman working in the cage and followed me until I walked out the door. Another team of security guards was haranguing my husband while I was being followed. This is INSANE behavior!!! We were treated like idiots and criminals and were not treated like guests at all. I understand rules are in place and usually for good reason but the communication style was very poor and intimidating. We will never step foot into The Emerald Queen in Fife again.

Was definitely worth the money. Clean and restaurant and deli had good food.

Only negative was a check in staff she was very sick and not wearing a mask or washing her hands at all. Saw her several times coughing and blowing her nose constantly. Casino slots is very tight. Players club staff were great. No lounge to relax and have drinks or music on the weekend at least. I would stay again and EQC Tacoma is close to gamble and lounge.
