Oia is just so expensive and I must say that this Central Hostel is just as good as anywhere else. Simple shared space with a total of 8 people I think but everyone has their own itineraries so you will not feel so crowded in the room. View outside is great, but not so much of sunset view. Walkable distance to popular places to see the sunset though. My bed has a curtain so it was all good.

Ended up here because I did not feel like paying an arm and a leg for a night in Oia, and budget options are severely limited. However, I regret that and would just recommend forking out the money for a good night’s sleep and stay. Pros: - literally right next to the bus station (which is really a plaza). Go around the back of the building facing it and up the stairs. There are ATMs from a variety of banks on the other side of the plaza, a restaurant below, and a grocery store a minute away that has a surprisingly decent variety of fresh produce and other food items, including water. Also close to the main sightseeing spots of Oia - separate male and female toilets, which were cleaned right before I checked in so they were in decent condition, and there’s an wall-mounted hairdryer and paper towels to dry your hands - the lockers are quite big and can fit a carry-on suitcase easily, plus they come with a key so you don’t need your own lock - Diana came by to check me in and give me a map with some recommendations on it. She also offered to help book any tours if I wanted - there’s a drying rack on the balcony and an iron + ironing board (but no washing machine) - others have mentioned the door lock issue and feeling unsafe. I certainly see what they mean. There’s a lockbox for a key installed outside the door, and the door was locked when I arrived, so I didn’t feel unsafe, but because the door must be locked manually, you do have to depend on your fellow travelers to be responsible to lock in whenever someone leaves. I was lucky mine were good about that, but YMMV Cons: - where do I start? This is WAY overpriced (and I get it’s Oia, but still). This place feels like it needs a deep cleaning desperately. The photos make it look nice, and sure, the furnishings look modern, but that’s misleading. When I walked in, there was a somewhat stale smell, and the lockers were super dusty and also smelled. There were stains on my towel, the windows were grimy, and when I went to open the balcony doors (which were hard to open and close) for some fresh air, there were bugs outside but no screen door so that killed that idea quickly. Just felt poorly maintained overall. I’ve read the manager(?) owns another hotel, which I could understand since this place felt a bit like an afterthought - absolutely no privacy whatsoever. Besides the lack of curtains around the beds, the kitchen/living area is not separated so it’s all one big room. Perhaps due to this, even more so than in other hostels, your roommates can affect the quality of your stay. Mine were nice, but unfortunately, one who snored loudly, and once he stopped, someone else started coughing nonstop until about 5 in the morning. Obviously, I slept terribly - there were only 4 of us, but already it felt a little claustrophobic. I was lucky that we didn’t have to fight for bathroom time since I went to bed and woke up early, but I can’t imagine it would be pleasant having twice the number of people there - the ladders aren’t attached to anything, so be careful climbing them. Also no safety railings on top bunks - I feel like your experience here is going to depend greatly on your assigned bed because there are too many disparities between them. For instance, the beds near the bathroom have no shelves, and the ladder to the top bunk is in the way of the bathroom door, which is quite annoying. The beds in the back have shelves, but the ones for the top bunk are half the size of those for the bottom. Also, some lockers are half the size of the others and are super high up, which seems vastly unfair. - bizarrely, only a face towel is provided, and it’s extremely rough. Even the bath mat that went on the floor felt nicer! - echoing other reviewers, the shower room is very spacious (definitely bring shower slippers) but has absolutely no shelves or hooks in it which makes no sense. I’m not sure if the shampoo and body soap inside was provided or a fellow guest’s - it will be noisy because
