    Simply perfect and such a refreshing change from chain hotels. Wonderfully received, looked after, fed, watered and made to feel at home, and that included our little dog. It really does feel like you are part of the family in this delightfully grand yet comfortable home, and you don't have to wash up and make your bed etc! If you like country walks, then you are at perfect liberty to stroll in the house's extensive grounds and say hello to the farm animals, or even stray further, often accompanied for the first leg by a house dog. Very close to many decent restaurants, pubs and shops in Lanchester and Durham. Christine, the host, is divine; as are all staff and Spencer and Barney (the resident springer spaniels). Couldn't ask for more and will return next time we visit our daughter in Durham. Thank you so much Christine and team (including Spencer and Barney).

    Well what can I say - the stay was absolutely EXCEPTIONAL! The photos what we seen before we booked ahead don’t half do it justice, when you arrive there the sceneries around the area were completely stunning and very picturesque it was the lane of tranquility and peace. Christine and James (family owners) were so lovely friendly and polite and made us feel very welcome like as if we were already part of the family - massive thank you for the surprise package which requested in the room for my partner :) I would definitely be here again 100% without fail and only sad thing was I didn’t want that amazing weekend to end. The only recommendation/improvement which is not a bad thing at all but hopefully in future they would make it more signposted where it actually was, it was a sharp turn and barely couldn’t see the sign where to turn before actually getting to that destination - apart from that the stay 10/10 absolutely faultless and amazing. Thank you so much! :)

    Burnhopeside Hall is set in extensive grounds populated by lawns and a variety of trees and plants. Our room ( 2) was very spacious with a wonderful view and an exceptional bathroom. Breakfasts are superb. Highly recommended.
