We just got back from Rotterdam and had a pleasant stay at Bastion Rotterdam Alexander. The location is good; you can be in the city centre within 15 minutes. We actually were out all day long and only came back to sleep. The rooms, beds and bathroom were comfortable. All necessities were there including a mini fridge and a coffee machine. The only downside were the (mostly) eastern European guys sitting near the entrance smoking weed.. So everytime you go out or get back at the hotel, you're confronted with the really disgusting weed smell.

I would recommend this only for a short stay. The location is not the best in terms of access to either a Bus stop or the train. On the first day when we checked into the room the AC duct was leaking and when we complained about this we were promptly moved to another room. Other than that we did not face any issue. The staff is friendly and helpful.
